Stop offering avast! Mobile Security
« on: December 29, 2014, 05:28:19 PM »
Seriously, why the hell am I getting popup every single day for this thing when I clearly have 1 device connected to my account that already has AMS already installed? It's pointless and annoying.

Yes a pain in the backside - mainly because there is no checking whatsoever or a way to even do a check to see if a) the user even has a android phone or b) they already have AMS installed on their android phone.

Whilst as RejZoR said the my.avast.com account essentially has that information - but should the information contained there be used to target ads. Many will say no as that is essentially a breach of privacy or trust or at worst adware if the information contained there were to be used in this way.

Not only is it pointless and annoying as mentioned - the frequency is unbelievable, I didn't keep specific count, but I guess it got very boring after having seen it more than five times (when does it bl00dy stop). Add to that it happens on both my systems so double hassle.

I guess it is time to delve into the avast5.ini file to see if a tweak will kill it.

It's not just one time a day. It is popping up for me 3 times today!!!   WHAT IN THE F.  And I can't even set a 3 seconds for it to go away, it stays FOREVER! Fix it please!

I've sent an email and have already received a reply. It's being looked at.
Also getting many complaints on their Facebook page about this pop-up.

Purchase the paid version and turn them off.  Use the free version and click on the X to close them.

If there is no way to stop these constant advertising pop ups, I shall go back to AVG.

I agree that these sort of popups are annoying.
Curiously, I haven't seen a popup for Mobile Security on Free or paid versions of Avast. I presumed it is because I have an Android device in 'My Account' with AMS installed.

I've just received an email confirmation that the Mobile Security Popup has been disabled. :)

Well, if system detected 1 Android device conencted, it should stop displaying it. And there should be a 3rd button saying "I don't have Android device" when installer asks you to also install AMS.
