Well, if system detected 1 Android device conencted, it should stop displaying it. And there should be a 3rd button saying "I don't have Android device" when installer asks you to also install AMS.
Apparently they couldn't tell who used AMS so you continued to receive the popup.
Since it's now stopped, I guess it no longer matters.Hopefully it will be addressed before
such a popup is relaunched.

That's what I thought from my previous post:

Whilst as RejZoR said the my.avast.com account essentially has that information - but should the information contained there be used to target ads. Many will say no as that is essentially a breach of privacy or trust or at worst adware if the information contained there were to be used in this way.

Even if they were able to use the linkage of your account registered email to the my.avast.com account - that would really be bad news to get targeted ads based on information in your my.avast.com information.

What targeted ads? One thing are global targeted ads on the internet and another when they are targeted within a specific application for a very specific purpose. because by all means, when you use free version, such stuff is to be expected and such behavior makes relevant things appear to people interested. Which is far better than getting random meaningless popups for stuff you're not even virtually interested in.

So yeah, targeted, intelligent ads inside avast!, yes please. Targeted ads, globally on the internet, no thanks.

I'm on about the fact they could/would be using information in your avast account to deliver 'targeted' ads and would that be considered fair game or underhand, since you now need to have an avast account.

Rather than the current blunderbuss approach every avast user gets hit rather than those who might just be interested, had an android phone and didn't already have it installed.

I think your looking at it in the wrong way. They had no way to distinguish if you acted on the offer or even checked out the popup.
It had nothing to do with the my.avast.com account.

Well, one thing is for sure, this thing isn't fixed, because I just got the popup for the second time today. Not cool.

Certainly isn't fixed - I got this a minute ago on coming on-line again.

Ironic that my image number was 6666 - some consider 666 the devil ;D

Could also be that you are reading something into my reply to RejZoR that isn't there - I'm pre-empting the potential wailing should these ever be targeted as the only way to target it or confirm it would be through the my.avast.com account

I haven't received any more and have now inquired if the stop may only have been placed for the US market.
You'll know if or or as soon as I get a reply. :)

This strange Mobile Security Popup comes every day - and I don't have or use any Smartphone.

A second request was sent. Hopefully that took care of the rest of the world.
Happy New Year 2015. :)

I have to say that since updating to 2015 I've had very few toaster ads (one a week, if that). I'm using free with all the unnecessary modules not installed.

I too am still getting a popup for mobile security every single day. Something definitely happened in the last couple weeks/month to cause and increase of these popups.

I don't mind having a free version and getting the occasional popup about a new product, but once is enough! I've already said no!

I am currently running program version 2015.10.0.2208
