Avast Mac virus definitions show as "0-0"
« on: January 06, 2015, 02:09:51 PM »
Recently I noticed I wasn't getting pop ups for my Avast Mac virus definitions being updated. When I look at the "Program Info" it shows nothing for the virus definitions. When I look at the account in the client or on the web site, it shows a red X and "0-0" for the definitions installed. Has anyone else seen this? Wonder if there was a bad update or somehow it cant read the defs now... for reference I have Avast Mac Security 2015 on OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.

There is for sure some info in the system log file (/var/log/system.log). Until you post here
the error messages it is hard to say anything about what has happen.

I see a lot of this in the logs:

1/6/15 7:05:36.439 PM com.avast.fileshield[1028]: avscan_open: connect() failed. No such file or directory [2]

The good news is that when I booted up today, it seems to be back to normal again.
