windows startup
« on: September 14, 2005, 08:20:18 PM »
hi all,

Using windows xp home with service pack 2 and all currnet updates.

Windows starts as normal but when the desktop screen appears only the task bar shows. To get the desktop items to appear i have to boot in safe mode and then restart the computer. (problem only happens when the computer has been turned off).

i have reinstalled xp (not refomatted and reinstalled) but the problem remains.

Any ideas?

Thx

Hi shootdude,

You have to check whether you have not accidentally hid the desktop icons. You then can uncheck this and get everything back to norms (all desktop items visible), some prefer just the start up menu as a route to programs and desktop items).
