I was just about to post about this topic  :). Thanks for sharing this Pondus. I am not worried about this not until extended support ends which is a long time away. By that time, I will be going for Windows 10.

The only updates released for XP are the Malicious Software Removal Tool - I wouldn't call that a security update.

I have never accepted the Malicious Software Removal Tool from Microsoft.

Eddy are you still using Windows XP  :o

So is Microsoft only releasing updates for MSRT? XP end of extended support ended last year? That's strange if Microsoft only release updates for MSRT?

This was a concession that they gave, probably because of the market share that XP has, still way beyond win8.1. Because of that I guess they don't want lots of people infected - the only problem is that is a scan a retro step - perhaps up to a month after a system could be infected.

Well that XP SP4 is an unofficial one isn't it http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Signatures-Updates/Windows-XP-SP4-Unofficial.shtml.

This was just from a cursory search, I'm sure there are others, certainly at many of the download sites - ensuring that you have a reputable source and who cobbled it together.

True. it is an unofficial one but it came from a trusted source and effectively fools MS into thinking I have XP POS which is still supported
