Tried searching the web and the forums here for the issue but have only found posts that cite Steam being flagged as some sort of virus or malware whereas my issue is avast is doing something to cause my Steam client to run slowly.
Has been an issue on both Windows 7 and 8.1 (semi recently upgraded to 8.1), deactivating all shields on Avast fixes the issue although is not an ideal solution. Sadly I have not been able to narrow down whether it is the File System Shield or Web Shield that is causing the issue where deactivating either results in the Steam client loading as per usual. Browsing the Steam store via their website on a browser (chrome) works perfectly fine, loading up locally stored content on the client like my library is immediately responsive however searching the store or my community pages has slow loads often displaying the page in weird formats requiring multiple refreshes to fix.
