Question on Avast Firewall
« on: February 05, 2015, 06:04:14 AM »
G'day all,

I'm thinking about buying a 3 year license of Avast Internet Security for my laptop and I've been using the Avast free version for 11 years now, and I wanted to know how reliable and how good is Avast Firewall also is the Avast firewall is the same in the Avast Premier platform.

Since I've been using the Avast free version for 11 years and I though it time for me to give something back to Avast by supporting their software product, or shall I continue using the free version.

Ta

PS. How safe is Digital River when I make my order through via PayPal

I use AIS and the firewall is very quiet, I never get a peep from it.  It works as good as ZA but you never see it :)

Over the years I've used both setups.
That meaning, like you have now Speedy, with Avast anti virus and OP FWpro.
As well being my versions have always had the Firewall module (not installed) I have run the Avast Firewall (instead of OP) and found it quite fine, yes and quiet.
I used OP FW because at the time, I was not as comfortable with Avast FW in terms of tweaking stuff and OP had 'File/Folder Lock'. :)

Thanks guys I'm going to run a 30 days trial of AIS soon and to see how it goes before I buy a 3 year license, I've leave another message for essexboy before I do a complete backup as I have one small minor problem that need fixing first.
