Hi dbynth123, I'm sorry you're having trouble with Avast Mac Security. Could you please provide installation logs? Namely /private/var/log/system.log and all logs starting with avast in /tmp .
Note that /tmp is purged after avery boot, so if you've rebooted since the failed installation, please reproduce the problem first.
Also note that you're not running the latest version of Mac OS X 10.9 which is 10.9.5. While I'm not aware of any incompatibilities regarding this version, we generally support only up-to-date systems in their major versions (10.10.2, 10.9.5, 10.7.5, 10.6.
