Avast for Business is crashing my computer
« on: February 25, 2015, 02:42:17 PM »
Hi all,
Today I started to use the free version of Avast for Business, on my server Amazon web services (AWS).
The problem is that when I start any type of scan, the server becomes unavailable (No option to remote desktop).
I'm using Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter - with the last Windows updates and Avast updates.
My instance type is: M3.Large  - 2 vCPU, 7.5 GB Mem, 70GB SSD Drive.

Any s suggestion what can be the problem?

Thanks,
David.

Hi David,

Thats a little strange as on a server OS it should not install anything other than the realtime protection and  ability to scan. Nothing that that would prevent a connection such as the firewall or web filter should be on a server. Can you verify that these components are not present and let us know ? IF you use RDP to the machine can you launch a scan and the connection remain stable or does it drop ?
Also if you can create the issue and provide the application and system logs and note the time the issue occurred , I"ll take a look at them to see if I can find anything that stands out.

Thanks!

Jeff
