Firefox server not found after Avast update
« on: February 26, 2015, 12:45:03 PM »
Apologies if this is covered somewhere else but I couldn't find this specific problem.  I have just updated Avast Premier

Program version 2015.10.0.2208

Firefox now sometimes responds very slowly, freezes or server not found message.  This latest version does not have an option to disable https scanning when I look under web shield settings.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Sorry, should have mentioned that I have an IPad and laptop both connecting to internet with no problems and am running Windows XP (okay, I'm a dinosaur) on the machine with the problem.

The version you have is not the latest version and there sure is a option to disable https scanning.

Problems with the https scanning are (all?) solved in the latest version:

Have spoken to avast helpline this afternoon and was told it's a problem with my system, not avast.  They offered to connect me to an engineer (for £80) - no thanks.

I've managed to remove avast completely using avastclear and lo and behold, working Internet!

Guess I'll try again with the latest version.

As has been told a huge amount of times,
that phone number is not avast but a third party and there are many complaints about them.
According to them is always the users system, malware and such but never avast.

But you have found this webboard and here help is absolutely free ;)
