Updated through GUI and had empty scanning information windows which I posted about in the main forum. I tried repair unsuccessfully. I then found that Sleep Mode wouldn't awaken through a key stroke; I had to push the power button. I rolled back the update through a System Restore but I still have the same problem with Sleep Mode. Needless to say I'm not very happy and I wonder if anyone can help me.

Avast does not like system restore much. If you need to do one, it is recommended to deactivate Avast Selfdefence module first.

Any other security program active ?
Did you try a clean install ?

1.) Very important to remove all remains of other AVs installed before Avast. Use this site to execute uninstall utilities for other AVs.

http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle or http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

2.) Download and save to your desktop avastclear.exe

3.) Download and save a fresh copy of Avast!. Be sure to have your lincense handy if running a paid version.

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe

4.) Open Avast! > Settings > Troubleshooting > Uncheck " Enable Avast! self-defense module ".

5.) Uninstall Avast! normally through Control Panel > Programs & feature ( Vista, W7 ) or Add and remove programs ( XP ). Reboot. If you can not complete this step, continue with step # 6

6.) Even if you were able to uninstall Avast! in step # 5, it is important to run avastclear.exe in Safe Mode

How to use avastclear: http://www.avast.com/en-us/faq.php?article=AVKB10#idt_02

NOTE: When executing avastclear, it will ask to be run in safe Mode so follow instructions.

7.) Reinstall fresh copy of Avast! and reboot.

Be aware. Avast! will offer Chrome during installment. Remember to opt-out if you do not want it.

I clean installed and the scanning windows are now working correctly but Sleep Mode is still not working properly. Any idea what the problem is, how Avast! misconfigured my system?

I think it is time to break free of this very long topic and create your own new topic.

In that copy and paste your previous information; can you tell us what avast version you are using, avast free/Pro/AIS/Premium and what is your Operating System version.

No problem, it isn't so much taking up valuable space, just that your question/problem would get buried within it as it continues to grow.

After the latest avast update I can't access C:\Windows\Temp folder. I mean windows asks me to change settings in security tab, but before avast update I could access this folder just by clicking OK in UAC pop-up.  When I uninstall avast everything works normal.

I can confirm this problem and am reporting it to a Moderator to make Avast aware of this.

Odd. I can access it without an issue.

Though, I have disabled UAC.

In that case, you aren't comparing Apples to Apples. :)

Sorry. Not very tech-savvy.

I'm having problems updating to the latest version (topic). It says that I am unable to connect to the host.
Someone mentioned registry issues? Not too clear on the meaning.
I am running the Pro version.

Thank you.
