Still having problems. Excel wouldn't respond, when I searched for a file it would make a sound when I tried to click on the folder and wouldn't open it. I had to re-boot and it seems ok.

Sounds like it may be a memory problem

Could you test the memory  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

If no errors were reported during the scan then it is OK

Are you still having the excel problem ?
