What I do not understand...

An SSD is at least $120 , why "waiting patiently" to see your SSD destroyed when you can simply buy for $30 a license for another AV (NOD32 for example) which is problem free....

Im glad im not the only one with this issue, after running into the issues that I could not get updates to work after Windows 8.1 installed the latest windows update now my PC is pretty unusable with my disk usage being at 100% the whole time. Not a smooth start to my Avast usage surprisingly this is only impacting my one machine that has the NG/VirtualBox installed I don't know if those two things are related or not.

Update: I turned off the Software Updater and the disk usage has dropped tremendously

This is enough, I am installing other free antivirus as we speak, and will remove avast for good.  Bob's workaround did work for me, but it started after a day or two, not sure what the trigger is.  This isn't my interest, I don't feel like troubleshooting this, and I know this can get quite complex being an IT professional myself.  So I have to abandon this and simply try something else.

Thanks bob to your dedication, now only if the product is as agile as it's fans.

Latest beta seems to fix my issue! Quick question when the final version is released will it come through my program updates or will I need to reinstall ontop of beta?

The final version will be ready when the time is right and all the bugs have been reported and fixed. Still it got many tests to do Beta 2>Beta 3> RC1>RC2>RC3>Final version

RC= Release Candidate
DELL Inspiron 15" 7000 Gaming, Windows 10 Home Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1237), Trend Micro Maximum Security 2021 (17.0.1333), Avast SecureLine VPN (5.12.5655), Windows Firewall, Unchecky 1.2

No, the procedure you describe is for Major updates, not for Service Pack ( = mostly bug fixes ) updates.
Service Pack updates can be launched even after the first Beta release.

Greetz, Red.
OS: Win 10 / iOS 17 / Debian 12 / Tails 5
Real Time: Avast Premium Security
On Demand: Malwarebytes
VPN: NordVPN ( NordLynx ) with Threat Protection ( Lite )

Shouldn't this be a high priority bug fix (sp)?

It appears a new version for Avast has been released addressing this issue.

I have this same problem, with newest updated Avast.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and it looked like it was better for a while.
But now after a couple of weeks its worse then ever, and my Ischache.dat file is over 1GB(!!!) .

Tearing my hair out here!

Only thing that makes it stop is to disable FileShield, but what use is Avast if such a crusial component cant be used?

Posting in an old topic is counter productive.
Please start your own topic and give details. Thanks
