Adding Clients to SOA
« on: March 06, 2015, 12:38:54 PM »
Hi,

We're a pretty small school rolling out Avast.
Initially, we installed each client as a standalone client and didnt put in in an IP/Host for the SOA.

I've now installed SOA on one of our machines and want to manage all clients from there.
So how do I tell each client to now point to the IP of the new SOA.

Is there a simple ini file (avast5.ini in ProgramData perhaps?) that I can change?
Or will I have to go round and manually install over the top again?

Many thanks for any advice.

Open the Avast! on each PC -> Click on Settings on the right-hand side -> Click on Troubleshooting in the left-side list -> Click on the avast! Administration console, down arrow -> put in the server name or IP.  I did try to find a registry or ini key to install but was unable to.

itsupport5,

Many thanks for the reply,

Unfortunately that option does not exist in the troubleshooting section.
When I originally installed, it did mention that you dont have to put an SOA address in but can add one later.

So now I have an SOA console but am not sure how to redirect my existing clients to it.

Any more ideas anyone?

Many thanks

On my computers it's in C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\avast5.ini in the [Common] section:

SBCServerName=server-fqdn
SBCServerPort=25322
Connector=sbc
