Problem with sessions
« on: October 01, 2005, 06:27:04 PM »
I have avast home edition ( 4.6.691 ) under Windows XP SP2 ( French edition )

The problem is the following :
- I've started my PC using session A ( avast is running )
- then I change session from A to B ( session A is always active )
- I use spamcombat ( glocksoft.com ) to delete spam. Spamcombat scans my mailbox for new messages. At the same time, avast told me that a message is infected ( the sound is enabled ) but the window asking me what to do ( continue or delete ) didn't appear. Spamcombat stopped scanning my mailbox. I didn't understand why, but when I return to session A, the window asking me what to do was waiting for an answer.

Can someone tell me where the problem comes from and is there a solution ?

Do you have the same email accounts into those two users?
Is Spamcombat checking for email into those two users?

You can remove spamcombat from avast! scanning and let it only for the email program.
So, you'll get: Internet server > spamcombat > avast > email program
To do so, add the line

IgnoreProcess=spamcombat.exe

into [MailScanner] section of avast4.ini file. Check if the name of the process is really this (spamcombat.exe) into task manager.

Hope this helps.

I don't have the same accounts in the 2 sessions and
Spamcombat is only launched with session B.

I've modified avast4.ini file just like written ( the name for spamcombat is gsc.exe ) ; but I'm not sure that the problem will not appear another time when Outlook Express will "download" messages.
