Hello Bob3160,

I do understand that. If apart from the format the files are corrupt, by whatever cause. Then they cannot be opened. The other remarks were just about a conversion problem the whole thread started with, and that is a question that has "broadened" up  a bit now. I must admit  I am not particularly unhappy with that development. Are you?

greets,

 polonus

i am not sure if they are corrupt. I did a little experiment. I went into office 2000 (access) and created some data bases. i saved these into my documents on my computer.

I then tried to open them using

http://www.openoffice.org/

they won`t open. It seems to me that this programme will open word and excel documents. but it won`t open access files at all

Broadening the topic isn't solving Omar's problem. ::)

Omar,

I am affraid that you are quite right, ufortunately it would appear that Open Office does not support MS Access files.  Evidently it is well documented in their forums http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewforum.phtml?f=10 :(

I am sorry I did not know this fact myself until I looking it up today, its not a something that I have experienced as I don't have any Access files on my computer.

Hopefully you will be able to find a solution to your problem elsewhere soon!

Cheers,

Thorny
