Avastui.exe
« on: March 16, 2015, 04:55:42 PM »
Folks, I'm OCD so don't judge :P

Every week I run a "Hijack This" scan of my system and save the logfile. Then I compare it to the previous week's "Hijack This" logfile to see if anything looks out of place. When I ran the scan yesterday I noticed that C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\avastui.exe (dated 13/03/2015) now starts with a lowercase "a". It used to start with an uppercase "A" (i.e. Avastui.exe).

Can someone please do an update of their avast! software and tell me if their "avastui.exe" also start with a lowercase "a"?

Thanks!

not related to the issue but just so you know, HijackThis is a obsolete program    ;)

Quote
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\avastui.exe
upload and check suspicious file(s) here  www.virustotal.com  /  www.metascan-online.com  if scanned before, click rescan for a fresh result
you may post link to scan result here

virustotal will give lots of extra info under the additional tabs, like digitally signed file, who made it, first time scanned .........

and just so you know, when scanning files that belongs to security programs on VT dont be surprised if you see detection from other security programs   ;)   because of how they behave and may containe virus signatures

Instead of HijackThis, nowadays Farbar is used.
