avast battery saver and Android 5
« on: March 21, 2015, 07:14:24 AM »
I have just missed some features on my SGS4 5.0.1. On 4.4.2 I had "Internet Optimized On" and checking frequency set on 30 min when screen is off. Now I see only "WiFi Optimized ON" and no option to set 30 minutes checking when screen is off. Description now also says "turns off WiFi when screen is off". But if it turns WiFi OFF in my opinion mobe data kicks on in device. So, does avast battery saver lost mobile data control on Android 5.x.x?  :o

If I'm not wrong, every app lost it... Google took it away.
I have set Avast firewall to block, at least, the non-essential app to connect using data plan.

Lisandro is right. The mobile data wasn't an official API and Google took it away and put it under a permission that only system apps can get.

What we did on 5 is that we hide the option to set the optimization period and leave the internet ON the whole time, because we don't want to offload what-would-be wifi traffic to mobile data, because that costs money. Now only automatic wifi works (switches OFF wifi when there's no known wifi network around).
