Rename Master is a free utility for renaming large groups of files with a few clicks. Anyone that has worked with websites, file archives, or collections of music, videos, or pictures has probably spent way too much time renaming hundreds of files.

Don't miss the demonstration movie of Rename Master in action. It's an excellent toutorial and can be found HERE

The program can also be downloaded from MySharedFiles

You've some fantastic programs listed here  bob3160 . ;) I love "good  freeware" and info. Thanks !  ;D
I just found this    Audiograbber which I'm playing with .
Have done some recording  so  far with surprising simplicity.
Next is to test out it's Mp3 ripping capabilities.
Recording live to Hardrive I make a data file onto CD Rom, then convert .wav to Mp3. Not many free  programs I've tried can cut it ...

Microsoft Internet Explorer is no longer needed for Windows Updates.

You can now use WINDIZUPDATE
This free website allows users of Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3, Netscape 4.0, Mozilla Firebird 0.7, Opera 5, Flock, or K-Meleon 0.9,
to keep their copy of Windows up-to-date.

When checking for updates, information needs to be gathered from your computer.
(No personally identifiable information is collected from your computer.)

My computer is already up-to-date!

There are some Restrictions and Issues.

There are many Good Reasons for using this website to keep your system up-to-date:

There are also a few Disadvantages.

In my opinion, the many obvious advantages far outweigh the few disadvantages unless the update is for a
serious security issue.

I tried  WINDIZUPDATE using Firefox 1.0.7.0 . My Computer is up-to-date  , which I had verified already , the " normal " way  ;)
Was a very simple install of the plugin. Advised of 2 driver updates, but opted not to as everything in that area is working fine. Will look into the file versions though, and if they are newer I may install them. I doubt that they are.
Amazing that this is available.
Very interesting Bob ! A  slap in the face to Windows Update and Microsoft in general I think, isn't it ?

                      A-ToolBar

The ultimate internet and desktop tool.
It brings you 50 useful tools in one program.

A-ToolBar has NO spyware or adware.
You can easily add new search engines in the search list.
No technical knowledge is needed.

It's also nice to note that A-ToolBar has been awarded the Softpedia "100% Free" Award
You can download it directly from HERE
It's also available from MySharedFiles
This is the only Too lBar I have installed on my system and it's a real timesaver.
I have to admit, I don't think I'll ever use all 50 functions built into it.
  :)

Hi Bob3160,

I have used A-Toolbar from the start, very many things included, and I tested it for half a year. It is a 100% free of ad- and spyware. Just one of the few toolbars where you run no risks. Been one of the beta testers when it came out. The only thing I have reservations about is the Alexa info, but that is blocked anyway (you could choose for Google to do the same). I do not know why as the thumbnails are not that bad, but I still remember the things with related.html for Win 98. Good tool, keep on your machine. It recently was updated to a new version. Hey, Bob, what do you think about the new pact between AOL, Google and TimeWarner. Are the video's getting better now? Sometimes Google video quality is that downright miserable quality!!

greets,

polonus

Not too sure about Windizupdate.
The two recent Updates from Microsoft ; 1. Critical, and 1. Important ; came through anyway after using Windizupdate to download / Install them . Made Me think what's the point ?

Seems XP Automatic Update  didn't recognise them & overwrit them . Something screwy happened , ...
Anyone else have this happen ? Feedback guy's ?

Well it sounds like the windizupdate doesn't update something the WindowsUpdate checks (update history perhaps, where ever that's located) to see what updates you have installed and which you require.

This is obviously a little bit of a pain, but the reason of using windizupdate is you can't or don't want to use windowsupdate, so swapping between the two would kind of negate why you went to windizpdate. I assume that windizupdate can detect installed updates, both windowsupdate and windizupdate ones.

I continue to use windowsupdate waiting on more Guinea pigs to test the waters, so I use either Maxthon or Avant to connect for updates. I too look forward to any feedback that may come but I feel the majority won't been switching between the two like you have tried.
