There is no recovery partition on your computer

You can get a recovery disc from Dell http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/media  I believe you just pay post and packing

You could use the old drive as a slave and then backup up the data

One last thank you Essexboy!  I ordered the recovery media - Dell is sending me a USB flash drive.  Ordered Friday, supposed to get it on Wednesday.    I think I have everything I need from the old drive, but I'll keep it around for a while just in case.   Tony
