No, not perhaps, they are.
All the complaints there are PEBKAC errors.

And what is your own experience with avast?
So far you only have said that you called a third party for support.

If you want help, start a topic in the correct forum and provide details.
Support for avast products is free.
Since this support is advertised and published on the Avast website as support,
Avast needs to take responsibility when they (third party support) mistreat and mislead
Avast's customers.
Simply stating that it's third party doesn't cut it any more. Sorry.

Well, in my opinion this whole topic was not neccesary.
The OP already got attention for her problem here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=168490.msg1198528#msg1198528 and I checked, it was indeed reported than.
I can imagine she is/was angry, but she should have listened to us.
Our only intention was to help her !

The disconnect mainly exists on the basis that customer believe that by calling the number they're reaching customer service, which is most definitely not the case.

They're reaching Avast Total PC Support which is a separate "service" provided by Avast. Customer Service is done via the support ticket system, as is billing, and the like.

Yes, but the website doesn't make that clear !

REDNOSE and Quicksilver - EXCUSE ME!! THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE!! You need to go back and catch up before you make statements such as that!!  It was the Total Support technician who literally provided the number in a text doc and saved to my desktop while he had remote access to my computer for Total Support "Customer Care" and told me what to tell them.  I have attached that text document as well as screenshots of the steps i initially went through that lead me to a sales rep posting as "Technical Support" (prompt # 2 in pre-recorded greeting) who sold me the $300 TOTAL SUPPORT I DID NOT NEED. I have also attached a screen shot showing the expired license that that initiated the need for customer support. After receiving the red "pop-up" warning, my program would not allow me to renew online - that's why I went to AVAST.com and sought customer support in the first place. If you'll look in this forum, you'll find other reports of these premature expiration warnings and the inability to renew online!! Your assertions and assumptions and dismissal  are not helping the situation and only serving to fuel  my anger!!

No no I agree with you.

My point is that Avast Total PC Support is a separate service altogether. It is not Customer Service. That's all I am trying to say.

If you have issues with billing and/or licenses, you are best advised to use the support page to find quick answers to common questions, or at worst, submit a support ticket.

This is the text doc. the "Total Support" wrote & saved to my desktop while he had remote access. It gives instructions as to what to tell "Customer Care" for TOTAL SUPPORT, including that number. When I asked him what issues he found and what corrective measures did he take to resolve, he found no issues with my computer requiring "Total Support", tried to connect me with "Customer Care" but they never picked up. NOTE that he mentions I can discuss refund. There are two issues: #1 The 1st technician who duped me, UNINSTALLED PREMIERE license that had a remaining two months and installed nothing but the "FREE" virus protection license, unbeknownst to me, because "since my license was expired it was not allowing her to remotely access my computer to troubleshoot. Additionally, she uninstalled other virus protection software (Windows Defender) because "it could allow viruses" The Total Support tech seemed alarmed by this and said he was making note of that!! Issue #2 - the $300 Total Support I was duped into buying that I used for one hour and did not need!!

Absolutely have to agree with Bob,
Also from what's just posted, having 2 (two) seperate "support processes" 1. Total Support??  and 2. Customer Service?? is the main problem and is totally noticeable when reading all the hundreds of post about Avast Customer Service here on the forum and building in the Social Media outlets.
So what's the reason this has been "allowed" to continue by Avast, ???
