How can I close "Data Collection"?
« on: March 30, 2015, 06:13:20 PM »
Hello,

I will use Avast Free for my home PC. How can I close all "data collections" in Avast settings?
How much I can prevent this collection with settings? I do not want to give any data to Avast!
Can you please help me thanks?

You agreed with the policy when you installed avast.
You can't block it.

And not only avast is collecting some data, all av vendors are doing it.

There is no trust while online. I just want a bare security from avast.. I do not want to Avast collect my informations from me.
I do not have to trust anyone

Pretty much "every" piece of software installed on your OS (especially security) collects 'Data' of some sort or another.
Best way to protect 'Data' is stay off the internet. ;)

In the Avast interface go to "Settings" > "General", you can see at the top of that GUI what options you have available to you regarding your questions.
Processor: i3 2.53 GHz 4 GIG RAM, OS: WIN 7, Connection: High Speed, Virus/Malware Protection: Avast-2015, SpywareBlaster, Windows Firewall & Defender. Email: Outlook 2010 w/ POP Peeper Email Notifiers.

Unchecking 'participate in the Avast community' in settings and not installing Avast Online Security (the browser plugin) will minimise Avast's data collection.

Yep, All AV's collect data of some sort. Some more than others. Nothing you can do about it.

There is no way to stop some collection by Avast. Avast sends statistics on every update and  it sends the every detected files to Labs.
Some vendors can let us to close this collection.
Thank you guys for your answers, I found my answer  :)

Be safe!
