Issue with Yahoo Messenger

I am having a prob with Yahoo and Avast...wondering if anyone has any suggestions(Yahoo support says its a conflict with Avast).  There are 2 users on this computer running separate desktops...on one yahoo Messenger works fine on the other as soon as you attempt to start Y.M. CPU goes to 100% for Avast and of course that means nothing works very well!!!.  XP OS with SP2 installed.

Many people are using YM with Avast without a problem.
Try to find out what provider exactly is causing this and make sure the system is clean from malware.

  I use yahoo as my only IM and have not noticed any
     problems; to check for malware, it would be best to
     post a request on the forum of your antispyware
     provider. In case you do not have an antispyware
