System Restore to fix problem?
« on: October 18, 2005, 09:10:14 PM »
Hi, a trojan horse was found (I think it was blocked... warning came up) while I was running files on Morpheus.  I did a virus scan nothing was found.  I tried to delete the program Morpheus in Add/Remover Programs and when I hit remove a sometimes a blank screen comes up with no options and other times it asks for permission to access trusted zone in my firewall (ZoneAlarm) and then I hit yes and then the blank screen comes up. Either way I can't seem to delete the program Morpheus... I was wondering how do I get rid of it.. seems like too many trojans/malware are floating around.. I want the program off my system.  Also, if I restored the system to an earlier date would that delete the program and take the malware away?? I am running Windows XP home. and Avast 4.6.691 vps is 0542-1.

Hi dbear,

You can read about this here:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.doal.trojan.html
and you see it is a trojan posing as something else. Other information here: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojtibikb.html
Yes my friend, these are the dangers of using P2P. It never is completely safe. You are monitored for downloading illegal files, and it is corrupted with viruses and trojans, and all sort of other scumware. Follow the recommendations to clean your system of it, if it is still there. Else run a good anti-trojan program to see if your comp is clean like ewido, a squared and swatIT.
