Avast! should bring back Iconic Voice of VPS Updates.@DavidR

There have been many topics on this not to mention a couple of polls.

So it has been requested a number of times and despite a number of program updates since, avast has essentially chosen not to bring it back. Whether they may bring it back at some point is anyone's guess.

There was even a poll open on Avasts' Facebook page about the update popup and the voice as well.

Let the complaints continue to pour in.  The more complaints, the better chance that avast reconsiders this.

Well it depends where avast is going. They may plan to dropp VPS and go for stream only as some vendors have. I guess 200-400 poups/voice notifications a day would be annoying.

When are you going to drop this totally outrageous speculation on having a VPS Update notification for every streaming update.

It simply isn't going to happen, if you think people are pissed about seeing a few Pop-ups, that they have no control over, how do you think they would feel with hundreds per day, avast would be crazy to even consider it.

People are asking for the return of what was the Status Quo, the return of the audible notification on receipt of a "VPS Update." Nothing to do with streaming updates which have been silent since there introduction. Speculation that one should have an impact on the other is just that pure speculation, bordering on scaremongering.

Yes, it really does get that close, when you keep suggesting that as a possible consequence of avast restoring the VPS Auto Update notification. When I think we all know that simply won't happen, it would be commercial suicide to contemplate hundreds of popups per day.

Especially if as is the case the user would have no way of stopping the Auto Update Notification popups it is no longer an option in the avast settings.

Extreme times call for extreme measures.  Why not just enable the silent/gaming mode and be done with it.
Any downside ?

Yes there are and I have outlined some of them in other topics:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=167446.msg1207818#msg1207818 also see https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=167185.0.

Search for silent mode and user DavidR, you will find others, not necessarily with any discussion on downside. You have to use the Advanced Search function, were you can delimit the results to the Avast Free/Pro/Premier
forum, User name and order by most recent.

Well at the risk of 'beating this to death' I have to agree.
I have picked up on this as the Topics have come and gone; and it is true there have been MANY!
I do agree that misinformation and misdirection does little to "clarify the issue".
The issue is and always has been about the "VPS updates Voice Notification" of which there were a couple or three a day under normal conditions.
With all due respect. :)

Thanks DavidR
- I don't use hardened mode.  Looks like silent/gaming mode could be a solution for me.

You're welcome.

There may well be other instances, but I didn't come across others when testing.
