Anyone use Gmail, please?
« on: May 05, 2015, 04:40:30 PM »
I received an email from Google in each of my gmail accounts with the following subject stating, "Google - new sign-in from Firefox on Windows".  I noticed it has an attachment included, so therefore I did NOT open the email.  Has anyone else received this email and was brave enough to open it, please?  If you did, would you please tell me what it is about, please?   I did some checking but no one knows what is going on with Gmail, so I just wonder if any one here could help me, please?

Thanks for your time and have a nice day or evening!

download and save the attachment (do not open it) to your computer

now upload and test the attachment at one or both of these  www.virustotal.com  /  www.metascan-online.com
if tested before click rescan for a fresh result

post link to scan result(s) here

if infected, delete attachment and empty recycle bin
in Gmail, mark mail as spam, then empty spam folder

Thanks Pondus, but I am afraid something may happen.  I just can not take the chance and click something wrong.   I really appreciate the help and the instructions, but I will search the web to see if anyone has received this type of email.

Thanks again Pondus and have a nice evening.

It is plain and simple.
Google (Gmail) is never sending a email with a attachment.

Another real strong indication is "new sign-in from Firefox on Windows"
Why only for FireFox ?
Why only for Windows ?
Gmail is web based and has nothing to do with the OS you are using.

I'm very surprised that this "email" wasn't in the Spam folder.
Gmail is usually very good at sorting out the garbage from the real emails. ???
