[Problem] Installation of Avast
« on: May 09, 2015, 03:01:01 PM »
Hi,

I have a problem when I try to install avast.
The error is : "The stub cannot run installer/updater executable 'D:\Program Files\avast\setup\Sfx\instup.exe (code 0x3)"

So I used FRS and both files are attached...

Thanks for the help!

Anthony

First remove McAfee, then try to install avast.

Removel of McAfee > http://www.ache.nl/

Clean installation of avast > https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=169255.msg1203279#msg1203279

McAfee is uninstalled but when I try to start AvastClear, it makes the same error :The stub cannot run installer/updater executable 'D:\Program Files\avast\setup\Sfx\instup.exe (code 0x3)...

It seems to be a problem with an old folder that I cannot remove.

OK run this fix, if you still have the same problem I may need to remove Avast from safe mode and then try a re-install.  McAfee is the problem at the moment

CAUTION :  This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
