False untrusted certificates
« on: May 11, 2015, 02:50:00 PM »
I have been having a problem with untrusted certificates lately. Seems like every couple weeks, Avast encounters a problem with one of my normally trusted sites. Today it is my paid Yahoo web mail. Last month it was the power company. A month before that it was Target bill pay. I have a clean machine with no history of infection. I have done some reading on this "bug" and found that in all likelihood, these certificates are fine. Nonetheless, I do not continue when I get these warnings. Usually I just wait 24 hours and they resolve. But I cannot wait 24 hours to read my work mail. Avast has no issues with the secure yahoo server but doesn't trust the mail server. (I have Yahoo's paid mail. No ads.) How do I get Avast to stop doing this?

I am having the same problem with my mail server smtp.broadband.rogers.com
And this is on a PC with Windows XP.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling AVAST (we'll skip the registration problem nightmare).
