windows not working properly after Avast is installed

hi
i recently installed Avast and removed Norton. However, after rebooting my laptop windows is not working properly. when I start media player i get a message 'internal application error has occured'. My Help & Support option in the Start menu is also not responding.
can anyone help me.

Norton is an absolute pig to get rid of, check out this link for Norton Removal Links.

Hi, I am having the same problem.  I ran the Norton removal tool and rebooted, yet I get the same error message when I try to launch WMP.  PLEASE HELP!!!

I can only suggest you uninstall, boot and reinstall WMP if it is still reporting an internal error.

I tried that and it is not working for me. I am having the same problem as everybody else.
