When I shutdown my computer last time, I got a blue screen... I'm investigating but does not seem related to avast!
Igor, not even I got it more... (thanks God) so I can investigate further...  :-\

I'm sorry to say, but those icons didn't bring us anything new... just more colors, and their appearance and also pretty much small size, just "helps" not to understand the meaning of some icons... they've got kind of AVG-ish feeling now... again, that's just my humble opinion.

Why no one even considered those icons I suggested in one of those earlier threads ? Here:

Was a semi-transparency (alpha channel) inside those icons maybe a problem ? It shouldn't be since I am participating in total revamp of icons for one of the best mail checking utilities out there (the only problem with that utility was an pretty not attractive GUI+icons, and that is to be changed very soon). I'm in a process of finishing complete design of those icons, and the main programmer of that utility already integrated them in beta version... they work like a charm. I used 32-bit BMPs (Photoshop only) which are 24-bit BMPs with 8-bit alpha channel. They work similar to PNGs, and there is a wonderful explanation on MSDN official web page on how to make/use those... best thing with that technique is that we can have nice and smooth antialiased edges of icons, so they don't look jaggy at the edges, and even better, we wouldn't have to use those square shaped "boxes" around the icons like they look right now (I guess Martin put that just to avoid jaggy edges, but that's not permanent solution and it looks a way worse that simple icons without those boxes  :-\ )

Edit: I'm not trying to bugg anyone with this, it's just I followed Vlk's lines from his initial post in this thread:

Any comments on this release are welcome and appreciated!

Thanks
Vlk
Because the icons had not been changed for these?
These icons are very better.
It adds these icons to version 4.6 718?

Hey how did you get "Script Blocking" as one of your On-access scanner? Is that in the beta version?

I think script Blocking is for the Pro version right?

Yeah. Script Blocking is only for the Pro version. Unless you have the pro version, it won't appear as one of your providers.

You should be fine with the Home Edition, you can try the free trial Pro Edition, but you have to pay if you want the full version.

avastForever, with Pro version you won't have super security and protection compared with Home.
Alwil company releases the Home version as the best antivirus and more, free.
With Pro, you'll help the development of Alwil, you'll get schedule options, more flexible configurations (believe, avast! could be even more than the Home version  :o).
Script blocker, Enhanced Interface, Silent Instalation, command line options, etc.  ;)

Dear Alwil,
I'm still waiting for some kind of reply to my question about an old unanswered problem:

Well, it really doesn't sound normal (though I don't think anything relevant has changed in the beta). Is the problem reproducible, i.e. does it crash every time? Do you have to select a different skin in the selection dialog (before clicking "Cancel") to invoke the crash, or is it enough simply to open the skin selection dialog and then close it with "Cancel"?

Please, try the following: Make sure your Logging sensitivity is set to Info or Debug in program settings; open the Log Viewer and clear the Info cathegory. Now, invoke the crash again. A few new items shoud appear in the Log Viewer (Info) in between. What do they say?

Bob, I'm afraid you are really the only one having that problem. I looked at the AboutBox code again - but there is really nothing special about it, it's the same as many other dialogs in avast!. So, I have really no idea what may cause the described behavior :(
Btw, the first line means that when you rightclick on the avast! tray icon, you don't get the full popup menu, but just one item - "About avast!..."?

Bob, are you using any Windows theme (or skin) application? (like WindowBlinds)

Hi igor
Thanks for the reply.

That's correct. All I get on the initial right click is the icon in the sys tray. I have to open it and that reveals the blank pop-up screen which then has to be closed.
Once that's done, I can then again select about and it then opens properly to reveal the info.

A long time ago but that's been uninstalled for a long long time.
