Hi,

Guess I found a glitch in the beta, suddenly my outbound mails started getting blocked and I would have to turn off the Internet mail module to send them out. It was working fine but from today onward started happening.

Having installed the beta and email worked ok and then they didn't work as this isn't consistent and theoretically it should have either worked from when you installed it or not. So I would doubt that it is beta related.

What was the error indicating emails were blocked?
What is your firewall?

BTW the beta has been updated to v726 now. You can go from 718 to 726 simply by invoking program update from within avast GUI.

This version contains some fixes in the engine + fixes in the new Greek language version + fixes of most stuff discussed in this thread.

Thanks

It was definitely the mail scanner issue, when you shut it down, outbound mails would pass through, anyways, with the new version its working fine so far.

Sometimes the firewall does not show the confirmation dialog and we keep waiting, waiting, blaming against the application when, in fact, the bad guy is the firewall. Sometimes, just booting will solve as the message will be shown again after.

Tech,

No firewalls here, just CHX packet filter for inbound, leave all the other work to Avast as usual, nothing in my CHX logs show that mail scanner or SMTP was being blocked.

OK. I think that I found something strange, but I'm not sure  :-\

I've noticed that some files are scanned twice during the starting of the Simple User Interface. Is this normall ?

After upgrading to the latest beta(4.6.726) everything is all right - every file is scanned only once  ;D

Can you translate avast?
Maybe you should ask more info to Igor, sending him an Instant Message into this board...

Never, and I'm downloading like crazy...
Sasha, how do you get protected at Azureus if avast! don't have a P2P protection for it?

There is no way to protect it with avast! at this point... there is simply no Azureus listen in the list of P2P programs inside avast! P2P provider.

I check everything manually... download files, and never ever execute anything without avast! checking it first. It's not a shortcut, but it works.

I just mentioned that I never ever had any problems with connection timeouts, and as I already mentioned to darth.mikey, a friend of mine who is my neighbour by the way, also uses Azureus with avast! installed, and he also never ever had any of those connection timeouts. Some people reported those problems, but I really have no clue why is that happening on their end while using Azureus.

Is there any possibility of setting ashQuick.exe to scan? Thanks.

Not that I am aware of... and I went through all those options... couldn't find anything where could I possibly use command line scanner. But as I mentioned before, I download the file and then I check it by right-clicking it, then Scanning it with with avast! scanner...

That's the only solution for now...  :-\

The version is supposed to be 728. Even after executing the exe file 'about avast' says it is still 726 ???
