Hey guys I bought my avast a while ago and I just noticed it said autorenewal on. How can I turn it off? I went to the my.avast portal and still cannot find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had some digging to do and found it in the end. I finally managed to get it to have it on days left till the subscription is no longer valid.

Still 500+ days till I make that call to maybe renewal. The best options one should choose.
When is comes to money any option should an opt-in. I just can't recall it being an opt-in that's all.
OS's used: Windows 10 Pro (x64) 1607 <-> Windows 7 Ult (x64) <-> Windows 8.1 Ult (x64) <-> Windows 2012 Essentials R2 (x64)
Avast Internet Security (sub for 10 PC's), HPM.Alert, Malwarebytes, Asus-x99 Deluxe/U3.1 (Intel Core i7 X980 EE - 64Gb Ram - NVidia Geforce x980 - Samsung PCI-e 950Pro 512 SSD), Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (6th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU - 16Gb Ram - 512 SSD)
When installing Avast! be sure to use the custom install... never the default!

Yes, the subscription is ON by default. However you can turn it OFF even before purchase - screenshot of shopping card attached. Afaik, having auto-renewal or subscription is quite common today (no flamewar, please).

To "not" have a flame war make it "opt-in" and not "opt-out".
Or have a separate screen with Bold print signifying opt-out.

Such as...

If you do not desire auto-renewal please untick the box. Then show the box.

I have a bad feeling this type of marketing will cost avast customers.

The problem is you have to click to see the checkbox.
Why not have a the checkbox visible in the original screen, and you have to click for the explanation ?

:D I knew that I should be rather quiet ;)

I respect your point of view. Mine is that I can live with this opt-out approach (And it's default not only for Avast products). We definitely could arque about the proper wording for the AR, or if checkbox or a dialog however we might never get to an agreement as everybody see it differently (there were similar discussions internally - 10 people, 10 opinions). Non native speakers may make it complicated it even more ;)

As it was already mentioned by Qucksilver - we really do send out several warnings emails to let you know that we are going to charge you for next your subscription. To avoid a confusion.
Hey, it reminds me that I should check my Spotify subscription. I don't remember to receive any warning about a charge for next month!

Quality is also a feature.

Hi Lukas,

Disappointing answer ! Why "hiding" the checkbox ? That is the reason people don't see it.

Lukas, seriously ...

Simply show the checkbox in the original screen, and everyone is happy :)

We are talking about paying customers.... They pay the salaries, treat them as such and don't make them hunt down hidden items.
I don't have any objections to the ads etc in the free version. But, when I purchase the product, I shouldn't have to be a detective
in order to avoid things I might not want.

Frankly I don't understand the "we're not going to listen" type attitude.
It's painfully obvious if you spend time each day reading the constant complaints about this "Hidden Auto Renewal".
What is wrong with making it completely visible???
I also believe this will impact negatively on Avast and result in lost revenue.

I don't know you people but I get the auto-renewal box and it is opt-in when trying to buy Avast. Well Avast could make it bigger and in bold but it is there clearly.
