AEA SERVER RENAME
« on: June 11, 2015, 08:59:07 PM »
We need to rename the server AEA and the Avast database is currently running on.  What is the best approach to take so Avast will still function properly after the rename?   I'd rather not move it off to another server if possible.

Thanks

Unless you changed the server address under Computer catalog > Communication, the clients should connect fine.

Make sure to change the server address of the installation packages.

The server address is not changing.  I was not able to log into the AEA console after the server name was changed however, unless I changed the name back to the original name.  Also the database instance name refers to the old server name, so I suspect that may have been why I couldn't log into the AEA console after renaming the server.  The Avast database and AEA console reside on this same server.

If the SQL server is installed locally, you can replace SERVER\InstanceName to (local)\InstanceName.

I ended up moving AES to another server.  All set now.
