'Avast service not running' message on device - please help

Can't scan and can't see how to 'run the service' - Not a clue! Please help

have you tried avast repair?

controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall / change > repair option


i assume you have removed any previous used antivirus before installing avast

thanks, I'll have a go. Has been working fine and has been the sole anti virus installed

The link Eddy shared is primarily for those that have an infected computer.
Since a repair of Avast has already fixed you problem, simply tuck that link away for future reference.
Most likely, you'll never need it.
