File Shredder Problem
« on: June 16, 2015, 02:42:48 AM »
I just purchased Premier to use to clean up a laptop before repurposing it and protect it after.  I removed old software, deleted old files, then emptied the Recycle Bin.  I then used Premier to clean the free space on the disk.  When it was about 80% done, it gave a memory issue dialog box and I cancelled the shred.  I found that the disk had essentially zero free space, with much disk space taken up in an Avast temp folder.  Shred then failed in several additional tries.  I tried to delete the temp folder without success.  Finally was able to delete most of the 1-2kb files to the recycle bin and empty the bin, but there was still no available disk space.  Ran shredder again and it is now hung at 99% but I don't want to cancel it again.

Any idea how to reclaim the mysteriously locked up space?

Laptop is an HP (Intel processor) that was originally shipped with Win8.
