Funnily enough, the warning sound of "threat has been detected" hasn't gone off for a while.  I did clear the cookies and temp files just before starting this thread, and the warning sound did go off once on opening a new page.  But there's been nothing since then.  Typical haha.

Sorry, thought I had to copy it in.  Should I attach it now?  I closed it down once I'd copied it, but I can scan it again.

Like I put in the post above, the warning hasn't sounded since before the thread was started, so maybe that clearing of cookies and temp files has done something???

Google Chrome is altered, you need to reinstall it when we finish with disinfection.

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.
Please attach it to your reply.

I haven't uninstalled and then reinstalled chrome or anything yet, should I do that now?  Even when the warnings are still coming up now?

Update - the warnings only seemed to go off a lot when I first booted up the laptop again earlier, like I put in the post just before this.  For the last couple of hours I haven't had the warning go off once.

Thank you. I'll reinstall chrome when I get home from work later. Seeing as I hadn't reinstalled it last night, and with the threat warnings going off again, do I need to complete tat last part again with the fixlog? Or should I just be good to go with reinstalling chrome?
