Avast Endpoint for Education Causing Issues
« on: June 24, 2015, 02:23:18 PM »
Hello,

I am a tech for Superior Schools and Plato Academy Charter Schools. We are currently attempting to use Avast for Education.

I have a box setup running Windows Server 2008 R2.
Currently we have various makes and models running Windows 8.1 Pro VL

During the unattended phase I have scripts that run and install things and one of them is avast. At first things seem ok than the machines restarts and all hell brakes loose.

Machines become unable to Sign off, Shut down, or restart.
Unable to access various pages. Ex System Properties Page

We would love to continue use of this software however our current summer deployment is not on hold as we do not have reliable anti-virus.

Hello,

What engine build are you using for the deployment?  Prior to 1603 there were issues with Windows 8.x clients similar to what you described.

Also note that the current 1603 release is not compatible with Windows 10, although a engine update is coming soon that will resolve this.
