Avast Core Security without amavis?
« on: July 22, 2015, 09:43:29 AM »
Hello,

I am interested of buying and installing Avast core security on my mail servers. We're using gentoo + postfix, milter and mimedefang. Is there any way to install Avast without installing Amavis?

Regards,
S.

It is definitely possible to use Avast without Amavis. With Postfix you can use for example the "After-Queue" filters .
In the filter script simply run the "scan" command on the mail content file.

We do however only support Debian and RHEL/CentOS systems, so even thought Avast may work on Gentoo at the moment
(we did not test it), no one can guarantee, that it will not break with the next VPS.

Thanks for the reply. How exactly it works? I mean, will it work as a daemon, or just scanning-on-demand, when I will type the "scan" command? Because the second option isn't really what I need.
