instup.exe memory hog
« on: June 30, 2015, 07:46:55 PM »
Today, less than a half hour after an update, Avast instup.exe begins another update. Each time there's an update, Avast hogs so much memory the browser stops responding. I believe the setting I chose is suppose to prevent that from happening. It doesn't.

I will not be renewing my Premier Avast.

Try a avast repair

Controlpanel > Ad / remove programs > avast > uninstall / change > repair option

Did that change anything?

Hopefully the repair may resolve this, if not.

Some information on your system might help us:
Half an hour after what update ?
What Operating System, CPU and RAM ?

The instup.exe is for installation-setup-update functions, so it will be up and using resources for a short period of time. This is looking for updates, program and or virus definitions and it normally happens shortly after boot and then depending on your update settings (mine is set to check every 120 minutes.

You can see my old systems spec in my signature and I don't see this issue with instup.exe, I only see it for a very short time in the task manager if I open it right after boot.
