Avast Rescue CD scanlog lists one file but says 1302 files are infected

The scanlog contains the following (in addition to the scan begin and end times):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Pearson Prentice Hall\StudentExpress\Penguin Lit Grade 6\fscommand\ftoolapp.exe: Win32:Spyware-gen [Spy] (0)

Infected files: 1302

Why the discrepancy?

The results of Avast Rescue CD are somewhat buggy:

different messages after scanning with rescue disk
