Virus found, by Norton. But comes up clean with Avast?
« on: November 18, 2005, 10:40:17 AM »
Been having a few random things happen to me while surfing the net, example getting redirected to another website that was just an ip address (blank screen), thought it was a browser hijack, nothing was picked up.
avast said my system was clean, spybot said it was clean, ms anti spyware said it eas clean, ad-aware said it was clean.

ran symantec's online scan and it said that this file was infected by tojan flush.a, google says it changes the dns in the registry and funny enough the same ip thats in the registry is the same ip in which i get re directed to.

avast has no information about this virus, and even a on-demand scanner failed to pick it up,

i followed symantecs recommendations to remove it and *hopefully* have removed it, but then it hit me, i should of sent a copy to avast. i can't now i dont have the file any more.

but just question how come avast have no information what so ever about this trojan?

is there anything else i can do

If, at least, you've saved the IP address, the name of that website (redirected)...
In this cases, HijackThis could help too (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip).
Tutorial: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/#introduction
Online analysis of your Hijackthis log: http://hijackthis.de/index.php

Or ewido (www.ewido.net)

is there anything else i can do
If you can find more info about that Trojan with Symantec, post the links for them, etc.  ;)
Thanks.
