The new version of Avast Free is running without any visible problems on my Windows XP SP3 PC.
However I would like to report a small bug. When I use context menu clicking the right mouse button - the icon of Avast there seems not to be displayed correctly.
Maybe the icon file for the context menu is not fully compatible with Windows XP?

And is what is the connection between secure dns and my previous question?

Previously this wasn't an issue on XP, but now the icon appears to be very low resolution (see attached) with a black box background. This despite my display being 1920X1200.

But my win7 netbook with a pathetic 10.1", 1024X600 screen, displays it just fine.

I have something funny in my Avast FREE. Can someone from Avast confirm that if this is the norm now or if it is a test ?

I do not have a registration date and my license is valid until the year 2023. I have read that Avast is trying to get rid of the yearly registration in thr free version but nothing has been said officialy though.

Any body else seeing this in his Avast FREE.

BTW I installed R3 2223 cleanly and did not ask to be register.

Something I should have mentioned in my PM - whilst the registered but no dates - I have seen this once before (in the forums), empty fields/options in the UI and under normal circumstances I would have suggested running an avast Repair. Unfortunately I made the assumption that you would already have done that.

Thanks Steven and Bob.

Yes that would be the regular UI section for registration, but as you can see in my images I do not have anything and in My Avast Account it says that my license is valid until the year 2023. Before someone ask, I did download Avast FREE from the link in this topic and not from someplace else.

@ David

No, I have not run a repair yet. One, I wnted to ask first, and two, Since in My Account says year 2023 seems like I am being the subjet of a test by Avast.

I had been on the Beta updates. When I saw 2223 went to final, I downloaded the final release. Was able to do a manual custom install over the top of the Beta .. now it shows I am no longer on the Beta channel .. so far, all ok.

Repaired Avast and still no registration date and my license is still valid until the year 2023 ;)

I guess some of us are being tested with the new way Avast is going to deal with the new Avast FREE registration.
