could you please be more specific, what was annoying?

It wasn't respecting its 'https scanning' logic. I asked avast not to scan https links but it was doing anyway. That resulted in huge number of links to be scanned within few minutes of activity.

You could have simple turned off https scanning. :)

I believe, I already did. There was no choice but to revert back. Since then I have disabled the program update.
