2015.10.3.2223 update new feature
« on: July 18, 2015, 05:17:55 PM »
I just did this update and noticed a new feature -- performance optimization. I am running it but it seems to take forever. How long (ball park) should it take on win 7 - 64 bit HP 3GB ram. I am assuming it is working however, I have no way of knowing. Would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thank you. Also, this is not the same thing as cleanup is it? As in grimefighter clean up.

I do not have GF so your answer does not apply to me. I asked about the "performance enhancement" feature on the latest Avast update. I did ask if it is the same as the old GF and the new Clean Up but since I don't have GF guess that is a moot point. I did ask about the long time it takes to scan.  Is that the norm??

Yes it does apply. GrimeFighter is gone. Finally, I may say.

There is no way to tell how long a scan/cleanup takes.
That is different for each system.

As stated, I do not have GF so I don't see how I can have CU. Also, at the end of this long "performance optimization" scan, I bet a msg comes up requesting a purchase of CU to resolve any performance issues. Correct?? I did have GF a few months back and removed it as it was terrible. Thanks again.

If you don't have CleanUp, how come that you are running it ?

I had the same problem.  I didn't have cleanup installed.

"Smart Scan has been scanning for performance issues on my win 7 computer for over 2 hours and has this little circle going around and it shows loading.  When I click on skip it shows "your PC still has performance issues."  I have no idea of what that means.

Could someone please explain?"

Ok then, so this is some UI Smart Scan issue - trying to include performance issues step when this component is not installed at all. We will try find out why it happens. In this case it might be helpful to have your avast5.ini, if you can submit it on support page. And thanks for you time.

As stated, I do not have GF or CU installed - only the Avast new update with "performance optimization" feature. I will stop trying to scan my system with an empty feature. Hope you can figure it out. Thanks.

The "performance optimization" = avast CleanUp.

Just like me the OP doesn't have GrimeFighter or cleanup installed.
