Error at Babylon startup !!!
« on: November 14, 2005, 03:29:53 PM »
Hi all,
I've installed Avast Pro 4.6 and Babylon 5 Pro in my notebook using Windows XP. At every Babylon startup (Avast! is already running !) I always receive an error saying: "impossible to find the entry point dep_fsEnableWow64FsRedirection in the library of dynamic link aswCmnOS.dll".
Note that it's not the exact sentence in the error message, since it's in italian.
After a file search, I found aswCmnOS.dll in c:\windows\system32 and in C:\Programmi\Alwil Software\Avast4 and it should be all right... ??? ??? ???

Thank you for your help!
Best regards
Giovanni

There shouldn't be any aswCmnOS.dll file in the system folder - delete it.

Hi Igor,
I removed the aswCmnOS.dll file in C:/windows/system32. Now at Babylon startup I received no errors and it seems ok.... do you think it could have been a protection problem?
Best regards
Giovanni

Well, I don't know... any chance you ever used an avast! keygen? They're known to drop an old version of the DLL into the system folder and keep it there.
I don't know how else it could get there... possibly through an update problem (i.e. during updateing from an older version of avast!), but if you say you just installed 4.6, it could hardly by the case...

No Giovanni. It seems an installation problem.
That file shows that you used an old avast! version. It shouldn't be there. It ok to delete them.
How long are you using avast in this computer? When avast was first installed? Home or Pro version?
