Who uses ID Blaster Plus in the background?
« on: November 14, 2005, 04:26:18 PM »
Hi secure surfers,

People can track you or your surfing habits down through your stored product ID numbers,  GUID or a unique ID number. There is a program working silently in the background changing these regurarly. The program is free and is to be found here:
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/idblaster.html
Anyone uses this or has experience with it?

greets,

polonus

I think something like this may well have a use, but personally we can get towards the paranoid on tracking, etc. I also don't like the idea of yet another process running in the background on the system tray.

Surely you should only need to run something like this run periodically to change the GUIDs rather than have it running all the time?

Hi DavidR,

I agree with you. They say that ID Blaster uses very little CPU.
If people like to create a GUID of their own for some reason go here, here you will find a uuid generator:
http://kruithof.xs4all.nl/uuid/uuidgen. Sometimes id is important to get information on certain processes on your machine, and you can use it to verify legitimacy.

I hope other  forum members also want to shine their light on this topic. What to do about tracking or just cherish it. Interesting to know how they make their surfing almost anonymous or do they do nothing to hide their tracks? What is your personal point of view here?

greets,

polonus

I have to agree with David. There comes a time when all of this becomes paranoia.
I personally don't care if some one knows what programs I have and use and if they get a kick out of
tracking what sites I frequent, hopefully, I've made their day.... ;D ;D

For the most part, I just use firefox, I don't even bother with an anonymous proxy to hide my movements on-line, I have nothing to hide.

Even if it does come up with your tracked, so what, where have I been tracked to and doing what.
