Try again, there's no SP3 for 64-Bit versions of XP.

It is possible to install Windows XP 32 bit on a 64 bit system.
In that case SP3 can be installed.

But in my opinion it doesn't make much (any) sense to install a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit system.
Such laptops come with a 64 bit OS installed and almost always have a recovery partition/option.

Isn't all this a little academic? Previous versions of Avast worked perfectly well on this same system before the fresh install. Why on Earth should Avast block its own site (and lots of other common sites, Mozilla, for example)?

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

There were no previous versions of Avast installed since the fresh install of WinXP. When I said, "fresh install" in my last post, I meant of my Windows XP (yes, SP3 too, and yes on an old AMD64 laptop with a long and checkered history, but works fine). However, the problem is solved. I forgot the golden rule: always first reboot to see if the glitch goes away. It did. Thanks anyway.

I am having the same problem on two computers.... Have to disable Avast to use the Mozilla Web browser.  How did everyone's SSL Certificates become invalid in one day.  Have uninstalled Avast, reinstalled it.  Uninstalled Mozilla Firefox reinstalled it.   cannot even look at Avast.com without getting the Certificate notification....   Looks like they sent out an update that is corrupt.  How can we trust an Anti-Virus that blocks us looking at their own site?    I will be shopping today for an anti-virus that is good...

I'm didn't have this issue on my XP Pro SP3 system with 10.2.2223; I just wonder if there is something to resolve this in the new beta 10.3.2224 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=174079.0 or not.
