Via the ticket we found the cause of these severe problem.
The cause is a collision between Avast 10.3.2225 and HitmanPro Alert 3.0.48.196.
Thanks for the info, good to know.

I had major problems with this update and after feedback from Forum and individual assistance from a service ticket, I had to revert back to x.2218. With so many people having issues with x.2225 I wonder if there will soon be a new version that addresses these?
Thanks!

:)  It does help to see that I'm not the only one suffering troubles with latest version 10.3.2225.  Besides other anomalies,  10.3.2225 simply does not permit 'chkdsk' to run properly on my Windows 7 SP1.  For the time being, “10.2.2215” is working undisturbed and unhindered toward the fulfillment of its promise to protect me from the mean cruel world out there.  I can be patient.

You are not the only one. And I would say, really far from this !
Since Avast 10.3.2225 release I've been experiencing many freezes-crash. First with Firefox, and then with Chrome. While browsing, for example, being listening to a youtube video and opening/closing other webpages/tabs, then suddenly the computer freezes.
The only thing I have to do when this happends is to hard reboot, manualy, no other choices.

I'm running a rock-solid Vista64 SP2, 3Ghz/8Go RAM. I've never experienced a single freeze before installing Avast 10.3.2225.

My question is gonna be pretty simple: When Avast will officially communicate about this big problem ?
Or at least, will Avast be offering to users an official link to download the Avast 10.2.2215 version to avoid this problem ?
And what about this CHKDSK issue in Windows 7 ? Is Vista SP2 corrupted as well ?

By now, we are still in the same position, we users (free version or not), maybe we would deserve, at the very least, some official informations about this issue which is touching users all over Europe and Japan. Don't you think ?

Peace.

I am also having problems with Avast Free 10.3.2225 update clashing with Microsoft Office 2003.
The mouse right click menu now no longer works in Outlook, I haven't noticed if I am also suffering from some of the other mentioned issues.
I confirmed the problem is definitely with Avast Free 10.3.2225 update, because I restored the PC to before this Avast update then Office 2003 was OK again, but as soon as the Avast update 10.3.2225 was re-installed the problem came back.

I am using Windows 7 SP1 and Microsoft Firewall. What is the solution to get Office working normally again?
Try the latest beta version just released:

Glad to see progress is being made to fix x.2225, but the changes listed here don't seem to apply to my problems. Hoping a true, complete fix will be available soon. Thanks!

We already know this is only a partial list since there are other fixes that have been made and are working. (Office 2013 problem is one of those.)
If you have an old problem, it's worth trying the beta to see if your problem has been addressed. :)

Thanks, Bob3160. I think I'll wait as I'm not comfortable working with beta versions.

Via the ticket we found the cause of these severe problem.
The cause is a collision between Avast 10.3.2225 and HitmanPro Alert 3.0.48.196.
Thanks for the info, good to know.

I got this answer in the ticket:

We do not recommend you to use more than one security application on one computer. This can cause a lot of conflict.
 You should uninstall HitmanPro.

Where is the service we got in the future from Avast when we had severe problems.
As we see in this forum how many problems there are still in Avast 10.3.2225, I expect this is also a bug in Avast.

No it's a conflict with HitmanPro. Remove it and your problem will most likely be gone.

My problem with Avast 10.3.2225 was gone after uninstall of HitmanPro Alert and now it's a conflict with HitmanPro.
But I did not remove HitmanPro and my Vista in still happy with 10.3.2225.
Can you explain this something more.

The same probelm as on my machine!

My configuration is only a little bit different: Windows XP SP3 - Outlook 2002 - The effect, respectively the bug is the same: The mouse right click menu now no longer works in Outlook!! Additionally I have no more access to the Outlook 2002 address book.

Since many years I've used avast. But since yesterday no more longer. In all this years there were similar huge bugs. But the most bugs were gone with a new release.

In principle I want use avast furthermore. The avast advantage is that ist works more or less good in combination of an old Pentium Mobile with only 2000 Ghz and only 1GB RAM. In contrast the Avira is nearly not usable with my old machine (Avira takes appox. 400-500 MB of my 1GB RAM - that's frenzy and crazy! - Avast makes the same job for the half of the ressources)

Please, does anyone know what is to do now? I only want to use my Outook 2002 on a proper way again. Does there exist a new release or a new patch to solve this issue?
