Since yesterday I am no longer user of Avast Free :(.
I have been using it for many years - since version 4.X on my old Windows 98 computer, later on newer computer with XP and I would like to sincerely thank the Avast team for their efforts through the years. But sadly I was forced to uninstall the latest version.
Since installing version 2015.10.3.2225 every day I had freezes of my XP SP3 PC and the cause for them was exactly the latest version of the program. I know from talks with other friends and relatives that practically every user with Windows XP has problems since upgrading to 2015.10.3.2225.
Despite the numerous reports here in the forum I saw no reaction from Avast side. There were no posts for any plans to resolve the issues even though this is a HUGE problem for some of the users nor there is a new beta build.
After the uninstall of Avast now I have no problems with my PC ...

Hi,
I updated to avast 2015 10.3.2225 and at the same time I updated to Thunderbird 38.2.0 (both German version). OS is windows XP SP3 32bit..
Since that time I cannot reply to mails, getting a message that Thunderbird cannot add the HTML part to the mail when I press "send"-button. When I ignore this message, Thunderbird will send an empty message.
When I disable the avast antivir, then the mails will be sent correctly.
Regards, Arne

So it's not just me.  I reverted to Avast 2015 10.2.2215 after cleaning out Avast 2015 10.3.2225 with Avastclear.exe and all is well.  I think that I might have needed to repair some of the Thunderbird folders.

To any other XP users having problems with 2225 reverting back to 2215 is the way to go for now. Make sure you set 2215 updates to manual and don't use the update in the 4 squares in the Overview section. If anyone else has a freezing problem could they please try accessing Windows Media Player before they try uninstalling 2225. I've read that blocking WMP access to the internet causes the XP operating system to freeze and I suspect it could be Avast indirectly blocking WMP's internet access that's causing the problem rather than Avast being the direct problem.

3 weeks without a solution is unimpressive. I'd hate to think Avast takes 3 weeks to deal with viruses.

After upgrade Avast PRO from 10.2.2018 to 10.3.2225 I was unable to run Office 2013 (O365) apps. Sometimes it run after 4 or 5 times attempts, sometimes not. I switched back to 2018 version using this link: http://public.avast.com/~havel/2218/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe and everything is OK.

I wrote more here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=175316.0 (in Czech)

Edit: same behavior noticed also other users: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=175144.0

It will take 7-10 days for avast to answer.  It is important to not submit another ticket in the meantime as that will push your ticket back to the end of the line, so please be patient.

If there is no answer after the waiting period is over, let us know and someone here will bring it to the attention of the avast team.

What is hardware assisted virtualization?  According to Task manager my computer isn't capable of virtualization.. Did avast recently change the NG to work on computers that don't support virtualization or something or what does this relate to exactly?

RE: AVAST 2015 R3 SP1 (2015.10.3.2225)

This is the problem when you don't visit the forum very often.  I'm confused about latest version.  I recently got an update to the FREE version probably earlyish August and I swear that version number went something like ..10.3.0888 or ..10.3.088  or 10.3.888  additionally from “ABOUT” Avast, there was a notation immediately following version number...  "In Memory of " apparently an employee has passed.  In any event, this update was in August this month.  I discovered that the version prevented chkdsk from running in Windows 7 SP1.  Error about cannot access....blah blah because of recent software installation...blah blah.  The second I uninstalled Avast, chkdsk worked fine.  So I decided to go back to March release 2015.10.2.2215 --- no problem with chkdsk in Windows 7.  Not sure if newer Avast was to blame for this next thing.  But NTFS file structure was corrupted and probably had been since August 13 about the time I updated to latest Avast Free.   All is well now.  Guess I'll stay put with 2015.10.2.2215 until I figure out what's going on.   Thanks.

Since installing version 2015.10.3.2225 few days ago I have experienced several times of freezing of the OS while browsing with Firefox.
The computer suddenly stops responding, the screen is frozen and the only option is to shut it down pressing continuously the power button.
OS - Windows XP SP3, browser - Mozilla Firefox 39.0.3.

I've been experiencing similar problems, but I'm not using avast! at the moment. Everything just freezes, but the music in musicBee just keeps on playing like nothing happened. Only way to fix it is system reset. Really weird behavior...

I've had exactly the same behavior with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 and then it just fixed itself for no reason. And now I'm experiencing it with Win 10 again...

I also had to give up on avast! and use another product. After upgrading to Windows 10 and getting 2015.10.3.2225 I get random freezes and crashes on the whole Windows 10 UI (explorer.exe). Rebooting multiple times didn't help, uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. I even tried using another AV for like a week or so and than uninstall and get back to avast! to see if they fixed it through a minor update, and nope!! I tried some of the advanced options to disable DeepScreen's hardware virtualization and other stuff... this seemed to kind of make things better but the system was still unresponsive and "crashy".

I've given up on avast! at least until a new version is announced. Then, I may try it again to see if the problem is fixed.

Is there anyone else with similar problems?

Hello.

After i install Avast Antivirus Free 10.3.2225, my Office 365 Home & Business programs can started only every third times.
Error code what i get is: 0xc0000005

While Avast use of shelters is stopped permanently, the same problem exists.

Reinstalling Microsoft Office does not help or change the situation.

BUT, if i uninstall Avast Antivirus Free 10.3.2225, problem solved.
I clean registry and install it back and BOOM, problem come back.

Solution 1: Change your antivirus software to something else or
Solution 2: Install an older version of Avast Antivirus and wait for the developers of solutions.

Problem tested and solved with 2 x Fujitsu Siemens desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Sp1 operating system ( clean install ).
Office is Microsoft Office 365 Small Business Premium latest version 15.0.4745.1002.
Avast, Operating system and Office is up to date.

Is anyone better solution?

If there is no answer after the waiting period is over, let us know and someone here will bring it to the attention of the avast team.

Via the ticket we found the cause of these severe problem.
The cause is a collision between Avast 10.3.2225 and HitmanPro Alert 3.0.48.196.
It happens only (for me) in VISTA.
Now the solution.
Are there users running with these security combination ?
Avast PLEASE go in communication with Erik and Mark Loman!!!!!
