This happened to me too, two days ago, but the messages came from MS Outlook not being the default email client and that there is not a profile (or something like that). It appeared twice. I should have paied more attention.  :-[

I get this anytime I try to start a scan.  Full or just a folder scan will bring it up.
After I hit X or close, Avast seems to go ahead and do the requested scan though.

No, Igor, nothing one... and it appeared to me... If checked the Alert page of settings immediatly after that messages appeared, nothing. I just open MS Outlook and get email from there once. One day after the messages appeared  ::)

No, I have not changed any settings. Not sure what alerts your referring to, but I have neither added any or changed any.   I use ZA, and there was an update about the same time with it, but the permissions are all the same.

Would like to get this nag fixed as now it will not do a sched. scan without someone to hit the ok button.

Looks  like Avast is wanting to email something out --to me.

It's coming from the MAPI unpacker, I'd say. What can we do about that, Igor? Maybe a registry hack to unregister the MAPI dll?

I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with this MAPI thing.
I think a message similar to this might be displayed when MS Outlook (full, not Express) is installed, but not "initialized" - meaning that it was never really started or configured.
So, do you have MS Outlook installed, jd500c? If yes, do you use it? Can you start it?

Removing the MAPI registration from registry would probably be possible....
(HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook\DllPath, or something like that), but I don't know if it couldn't affect some functionality (mail-related, I mean).

It could happen after an update... I've used Outlook before, configure it, but some time ago. After the day I've used (two or three days ago) I do not see that message again).

I have express and use netscape  mail on occasion.
I am going to run a registry scan and see if anything pops up there.  I will post back if that happens to fix it.

So, you don't have full Outlook even installed? It's a (optional) part of MS Office.

Yes I have ms office outlook installed, but I dont use it.  It started right up today when I opened it, so I would say yes I could use it.
I did set it up at one time, so it has been configured.

The registry scan did nothing, still have the problem.

Let me ask this,  would there be any harm in unistalling and then a clean install of Avast.

If not, I will that a try.  Any hidden things I need to remove so it will fresh install?

If you have MS Office CD, no troubles at all, just Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Microsoft Office > Change > uninstall only MS Outolook to test.

What? avast? No, you can overinstall or uninstall and install again. No hidden things but you need to boot twice.
Oh, for MS Outlook, maybe the same, even you won't be asked to boot.
